Appleby College, Canada, is set to launch its e-learning programme in India.
THE Appleby College, based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, recently visited India for a strategic partnership with Indian schools to launch its e-learning programme.
"Our emphasis is on offering students an Ontario secondary school diploma, which will be exactly the same as what we offer our on-campus students," said Aron Solomon, chief operating officer, e.learn@APPLEBY and assistant headmaster at the Appleby College.

"We are keen on having talented Indian students in our school. Also, we will be offering scholarships to deserving and meritorious students," said Solomon adding, "the nature of the scholarship will depend on the financial background of a student's family." He emphasised that the e-learning model will help students across the world to study their online programme.
Anjali Seth, admissions project manager, India, informed: "Students opting for this diploma will need to complete six courses, which can either be spread over two years or can be finished within a year, while studying for their local secondary certificates or diploma."
The e-learning programme has already been launched in countries like Mexico, Korea and Botswana. "Our first group of students from these three countries will complete the Ontario secondary school diploma next year," informed Solomon.

The fee for the diploma will cost around one-fourth of the total amount being charged by the Appleby College in Canada.
"Currently, we charge an annual fee of 42,500 Canadian dollars, for tuition and boarding which excludes technology fees and travel expenses," said Solomon.
On its admission deadlines, he said: "We accept applications beginning July 1 of the year preceding admission. For example, applications for September 2008 have been accepted as on July 1, 2007."
Appleby College, established in 1911, offers courses from grades VII to XII and a globally recognised qualification.
The school is a member of G20 - a consortium of the top 20 independent schools worldwide. Besides, it claims to be Canada's first e-school, with all students and faculty having Lenovo Tablet PCs.
